Sharing at Christmas

Share a meal with old friends and new at the Community Christmas Dinner at the York Center United Methodist Church in the Town of York.  Dinner will be served December 25th beginning at Noon, followed by cards and games.

December 29th share life by giving blood at the Red Cross Blood Drive at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen from 12:30PM to 5:30PM. You can make an appointment on the Red Cross website Blood Donation Appointment but walk-ins are always welcome.

Santa Visits

Santa will again be visiting this weekend at events across the county.

You'll find the Jolly Old Elf at the Greenwood High School Cafeteria from 10AM to Noon.

If you're hungry, have dinner with Santa at the Colby High School starting at 11AM. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.

And Ol' St Nick will also be at the Owen-Withee High School from Noon to 2PM during the Owen-Withee Jaycees Christmas Arts and Craft Show. The show runs from 9AM-2PM so you can get some shopping in before he visits.

Holiday Events in Clark County

Friday November 25th Santa will be making appearances all over Clark County to bring in the Christmas season.

Thorp will be hosting the 4th Annual Chamber of Commerce "Hometown for the Holiday.

In Neillsville Santa and Mrs Claus will be at the Lighting the Christmas Tree at 6PM in Sniteman Town Square. Enjoy caroling, horse drawn wagon rides, refreshments and have your picture taken.

Greenwood will have the Lighting of City Hall Park 5PM-7PM including sleigh rides.  Santa will be stopping by here too.

Veterans Day at the Highground

This year the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Highground in Neillsville will take place Friday November 11th at 11:11AM.  All are welcome.

A second ceremony for the Department of Corrections Veteran Day Observation will be Tuesday November 15th at 11AM.

Other Veterans Day events on Friday include the Neillsville School District program at 9:30AM, a Band Veterans Day Assembly at Thorp High School, and a luncheon at American Legion Post 73 in Neillsville at Noon.

Thorp Pumpkin Festival

The 15th Annual Thorp Pumpkin Festival will be this Saturday October 1st 9AM-4 PM on Main Street.  130+ vendor booths filled with fall produce, food and crafts. Contests for all to try, and activities for the kids as well.  The Entertainment Tent will be heated, and offer a variety of fun. And oh yes...there will be pumpkins!!  Hundreds of pumpkins.  Don't miss out!

27th Annual Bicycle Tour

August 4th-7th is the Highgrounds 27th Annual Bicycle Tour.

There will be six routes from 180-350 miles. Starting points are Appleton, Hayward, Madison, New Richmond, Racine and Dubuque, IA. Riders may join at any point. Arrive Sunday at Noon at the Highgrounds for ceremony and picnic.

June 17th-19th Festivals

It's going to be a fun-filled weekend in Clark County!

You can head out to the 51st Dorchester Days and see a Wisconsin State Championship tractor pull, mini-rod pull and truck pull. They will also be hosting a carnival, softball and horseshoe tournament, kiddie parade, street dance and a wonderful charcoal chicken dinner on Sunday.

This weekend is also Withee Days. Friday the fun starts at 6PM, Saturday at Noon and Sunday at 11AM. Food and entertainment all weekend, and a softball tournament at Withee Fairgrounds and Ballpark. The Withee Days Parade on Sunday.

Museums in Clark County

If you are a history buff, or like to revisit the past, Clark County has several museums showing life as it was.

These museums are only open during the summer months, so take some time on the weekend to discover Wisconsin's roots.

The 1897 Clark County Jail Museum - 215 East 5th Street, Neillsville.
This is a beautiful "castle-like" house filled with Victorian furnishings, that was the home to the Sheriff with a 3 story cell block attached to the house. Open Sundays from 1PM-4PM or by appointment. 1897 Clark County Jail

The Reed School - US Hwy 10 and Cardinal Ave, Neillsville.
A one room school house from the early 1900s. Open weekends from 10AM-4PM. Reed School

The Rural Arts Museum - Colby.
This museum houses a the original Colby train depot, as well as the history of Colby cheese and much more. Open Sundays Memorial Day to Labor Day and by appointment.

Bransitter Museum - 600 South Main Street, Greenwood.
Step back in time and walk down the wooden sidewalks through life in 1900. Many collections of toys, tools and photographs. Open Dairy Days Sunday, then the first Sunday of June, July and August. Bransitter Museum

The history of the Village of Loyal. Open the first Sunday of July, August, and September and Sunday of Loyal Corn Fest or by appointment. The Old Depot

St John's Lutheran Celebrates 125 Years

On May 22nd St. John's Lutheran Church and School will kick off their 125th Anniversary Celebration at 9AM with Worship Service and 8th Grade Graduation, with a Pig Roast Meal and entertainment to follow.

More celebrations will be held September 18th and April 15th, 2012.

All former confirmands, graduates, teachers, pastors and friends of the church and school are welcome.

Festival of the Wheel

Competive bikers - get ready! Be in Willard for the Dar's Midwest Time Trial Championships May 7th. This is a WISport event - Menzel Stage TT #1.

There will be one 16 mile loop bike race for road/mountain/tandem/recumbent bikes and one 7 mile race for roller blades, roller skis, wheel chair, or other non-motorized wheeled devices.

Registration is at 10AM at the Willard Community Center. Racing will begin at Noon race start with a 15-second split between each participant. Helmets are required.

Entry fee is $20 (family rate $15 for 3 or more)- $1.00 per entry goes directly to the Children's Miracle Network and a donation is made to the Dar Vollrath Memorial Scholarship Fund.

April 16th - Easter Egg Hunt at Shuster Park in Neillsville 9:30AM.
April 16th - Easter Egg Hunt at Red Arrow Park in Abbotsford.
April 16th - Easter Egg Hunt at Curtiss Park 10AM.
April 23rd - Easter Egg Hunt (for 8 and under) Greenwood City Hall 10AM

This weekend - March 12th and 13th - marks the last two days of the season for the Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area.

Rock Dam Lake Ice Fishing Contest

Saturday February 26th the Rock Dam Rod and Gun Club will be hosting an Ice Fishing Contest on Rock Dam Lake from 10AM to 3PM.

Prizes will be awarded immediately after the contest. There will also be food available and door prizes given at the clubhouse.

Rock Dam Lake is located 20 miles south of Thorp or 10 miles west of Greenwood or 10 miles north of Fairchild, just west of Willard.

Family Snow Fun

If your family likes to play in the snow, February 4th is the day to get out there. It's WCCN Radio Family Fun Night at the Bruce Mound Winter Sports Area in Merrillan.

Plenty of time to play, it's open 5PM to 10PM, and lift tickets are only $7. Plus free hot dogs, door prizes and more.

Snowmobile Races this Weekend

If you like snowmobile racing, this is the weekend to be in Clark County.

On Saturday January 15th the Thorp Sno-Radiers will be holding Snowmobile Drag Races. Registration is from 9AM-11:30AM, racing begins at Noon. Track is located one mile west of Thorp on County Road X, then north 1/2 mile on Tieman Avenue.

The Central Wisconsin Ice Racing Association will be hosting the Moose Racing this Saturday and Sunday January 15th and 16th. Saturday will feature the Moose 3 Hour Endurance Race and Sunday more racing on the oval.
