43rd Annual Winter Carnival

It's that time again - the 43nd Annual Winter Carnival in Neillsville this weekend.

February 21st to the 24th enjoy activities all around town. Thursday is the Miss Winter Carnival Pageant at the High School. Friday there is a Variety and Comedy Show also at the High School. Saturday there is a Polar Plunge at the North Side Pond, or stay dry with Cribbage, Pool, Darts and more. Sunday enjoy a great Pancake Breakfast at the Legion then play Sheepshead, Trap Shoot or watch the Mite Cross Ice Game at the Ice Arena.  Win a Weber Grill and other great prizes in the Raffle.

Upcoming Blood Drives

Give the gift of life - donate some blood during American Heart Month.

The American Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive February 9th 9:30AM-2PM at the Thorp Fire Hall.

The Blood Center of Wisconsin will be hosting a Blood Drive February 12th 11AM-4PM at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Levis Mound and Trow Mound Trail

Clark County is well known for ATV and snowmobile trails.  But cross-county skiers, snowshoers, hikers and mountain bikers know the Levis Mound and Trow Mound recreational trail is where to go for winter fun. Trails wind through 133,000 of County forest land with fantastic views of woods and wildlife.

Curtiss Snowmobile Drags

Head out to the Boomtown Clubhouse and Racetrack in Curtiss January 19th for the Curtiss Snowmobile Drag Races sponsored by the Curtiss Lions Club.  Registration begins at 9AM; studded and non-studded, Stock, Improved Stock, Modified and Vintage Classes with cash prizes. Racing begins at Noon, admission $3. No carry ins, food available, and a raffle. And don't worry about getting to cold, you can watch the racing from inside a heated building!

Don't Stop Giving

You don't need to stop giving after the holiday season.  There are several American Red Cross blood drives coming up in the next few weeks here in Clark County.  Share the gift of life all year.

Thursday December 27th 12:30PM–5:30PM at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

Friday January 4th 12:15PM–5:15PM at the Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Monday January 7th 11AM–6PM at American Legion Post 73 in Neillsville.

Wednesday January 9th Noon–6PM at the Abbotsford High School Gym.

Christmas in Stanley

Head to Stanley December 22nd and in enjoy Christmas fun for the whole family.

There will be a free movie and Santa will visit at the Stanley Theater, showings at 11:30AM and 2:30PM. Enjoy a lunch of free chili at the Stanley Republican from 1PM to 5PM. Seniors can play free Bingo at Holy Family Hall beginning at 1PM. And you can take the family for a free hayrides from 1PM to 4:30PM.

Time to Ring in the Season

Christmastime is here, and there are many upcoming events that will bring holiday cheer.

Saturday December 1st is a busy day with the Holiday Festival at the D R Moon Memorial Public Library in Stanley beginning at 1PM, the Christmas Tree Lighting and Open House in the Town Square in Neillsville starting at 6PM, and the Christmas Parade in Abbotsford begining at 7PM. Santa will be attending all these events!

Tuesday December 4th is the 4th Annual Thorp Area Christmas Parade begining at 6:30PM, with the Tree Lighting at 7PM followed by pictures with Santa.

Friday December 7th 5PM to 9PM and Saturday December 8th Noon to 5PM enjoy the Historic Holiday Tour of Homes and Museums. Visit Tufts Mansion, Hillside Community Church, Clark County Jail Museum and the James Sturdevant Home for lots of Christmas activities. See details here Historic Holiday Tour of Homes and Museums

Also Saturday December 8th have Breakfast with Santa and Mrs Claus 9AM-1PM at American Legion Post 73 in Neillsville, get homebaked goodies at the Stanley United Methodist Cookie Walk from 9AM to Noon, or join the Owen-Withee Jaycees and the Owen-Withee Lions Club for the Christmas Arts and Crafts Show and Santa Day at the Owen-Withee High School.
